Melissa MacDonald Melissa MacDonald

Interests:
In addition to yoga Melissa enjoys bike touring, camping, mountain bike riding and Brazilian dance.

Background:
The first yoga class Melissa went to in 1998 gave her immediate relief from chronic lower back pain and she knew without doubt she had stumbled upon a precious gift. Yoga has been a driving force in her life ever since. Several years ago Melissa left a dead-end office job so that she could do something more important and relevant: teach yoga. While completing a two year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program she discovered another interest: physical therapy. Currently Melissa is teaching yoga and taking classes at CCSF so as to transfer into the Physical Therapy Program at SFSU/UCSF. Her journey has only just begun and she credits this new path to her practice of and dedication to yoga.

Melissa's love of yoga comes through in her teaching. Her precise and thoughtful instruction of the asanas (yoga poses) guides students into a deeper awareness of themselves enabling them to tap into yoga's gifts of health and transformation. In addition to a regular home practice Melissa studies under Iyengar yoga teachers Janet McLeod and Athena Pappas.
